YUKI wood
Finished to an extreme thinness through master craftsmanship, this wooden cup is perfected in pursuit of the wood's lightness, thinness, and a smooth, pleasant touch. Furthermore, because it is crafted using the "Vertical Grain Cutting" method—where the wood is taken from cross-sections of the raw log—it is characterized by its strength and resistance to warping or shrinking, despite being thin and lightweight.
The soft, rounded form evokes the winter scenery of Yamanaka Onsen, where snow falls silently and piles deep—an impression that is both gentle and strong. This specific shape, which fits so comfortably and naturally in the hand, was found only after countless prototypes were repeatedly created.
The beauty of these curves is accentuated by domestic Keyaki (Japanese Zelkova), known for its durability and stunning grain. Its texture, which radiates the vitality of nature, offers the soothing warmth of natural wood.
As a wooden cup, it can be used comfortably regardless of the beverage’s temperature, making it suitable for a wide range of daily use—from warm teas to cold drinks and even alcoholic beverages.
Through high-quality materials and master craftsmanship, this wooden vessel features a design that enhances the inherent beauty of the wood, bringing a small sense of joy with every use.
Whether selected in the same color or as a matching pair of different shades, it is also ideal as a gift for someone special.
- The material has been updated to domestic Keyaki (Japanese zelkova).
- For the brown YUKI wood, the material will switch from the current Japanese cherry birch (mizume-zakura) to zelkova as soon as the existing stock is sold out.
